Hi Matador Cross Country Fans,

Summer running has arrived! Tomorrow, Monday, June 22, runners will meet at Independence Park/Kellman Fields at 8:30am. All are welcome, bring a friend. Summer running is the most important part of preparing for the upcoming cross country season.

Summer running schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday - meet at Independence Park at 8:30am.
Tuesday and Thursday - meet at Granada’s Track at 8:30am.

A few things that are good to bring to the run.
1. Bottle of water!
2. Towel - for core work and stretching
3. Food such as a nutrition bar, trail mix, or a sandwich to eat within 30 minutes of our run.

A few things that are good to do before the run.
1. Wake up 1-2 hours to allow your body time to prepare for the run.
2. Drink 8-12oz of water before the run.
3. Eat! - Cereal, bananas, yogurt and other carbohydrates and proteins. Take a multi-vitamin with the food. Avoid sugary food and plain bread.

A few things to do for your running future.
1. Buy new training shoes. They will keep you healthy. Go to Fleet Feet in downtown Pleasanton as they specialize in running shoes.
2. While you’re there, pick up a pair of running shorts to train in.
3. Get a digital watch to keep track of the time it takes to complete your runs.

Run fast!
