Sophomores Brandon Arnold and Daniel Pierson stepped up big time for the 2 mile race in Martinez. With 2 senior runners out, the sophomores came through and finished 4th and 5th for Granada. Leading the varsity boys was junior Alex Summers followed by seniors Nathaniel Smauley and Ramzy DeCastro.
Freshmen girls Laura Herbeck and Carina Novell led the girl Matadors. They both finished with excellent times. Junior Julia Burton and seniors Ana Cyr and Alena Harris also had fantastic races.

For those of you who didn’t stay for the award ceremony, you missed out! It started with a dance competition…or more like a giant group of runners dancing and having a great time. Granada dancers included Laura H., Julia, Ana, Brandon, and Ramzy’s award winning dance moves (seriously, he won a back pack).

Really happy to read about Sophomores Brandon and Daniel. Excellent running guys. Also, congrats to Alex, Nathaniel and Ramzy. Another big CONGRATULATIONS to Laura, Carina, Julia, Ana and Alena. Coach’s mom and I hope to see you soon at a league meet! Ramzy…I am not at all surprised that you won a back pack with your dance moves!!!
