Lara Jansen went beyond proving that she deserved Matador of the Week. On Wednesday she was a key factor in Granada’s triumph over the other EBAL schools. On Saturday she came through at Mt. SAC as the first Matador to cross the line and placed 15th in her race. Lara walked away with a medal for her effort.

Nathaniel Smauley had a gutsy race on Saturday at Mt. SAC. Smauley crossed the mile point at 5:12 going into the switchback hill and in the lead group. Coming off the hill towards “poop out” hill, Nathaniel took an early lead and eventually finished in 2nd place. Nathaniel also won a medal for his courage.
